The Gala is in 3 days! Plus, getting to know Emily Blunt better.

By Eric, 10:41 am

If you were a fly on a wall here at AIS, the word you might hear the most these days is gala (with honorificabilitudinitatibus coming in at a close second, oddly enough). Yes, our 3rd Annual Benefit Gala is this Monday, June 8 at Tribeca Rooftop!

We are very excited about the event, which will honor TD Ameritrade Chairman Joe Moglia and popular British actress Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada, Dan in Real Life, Sunshine Cleaning) as recipients of the Freeing Voices, Changing Lives award for working through their stuttering to achieve their dreams.

The night will be hosted by beloved actor Sam Waterston (Law and Order). Special guests include Barbara Walters, Byron Pitts, and Marc Bouwer. The night will also feature a special performance by the Mojo Myles Band, fronted by 13-year-old musical prodigy and stutterer Myles Mancuso.

In addition to Sam, Joe, and Emily, the crowd will enjoy speeches from several of our clients. As Jodriann expressed, giving a speech in front of a large audience is no small feat for someone who stutters. We applaud our clients and thank them for making the night so special.

The gala is co-chaired by Susan Glessner and Deutshce Bank Americas CEO Seth H. Waugh.

To get to know Emily Blunt a little better, here’s an interview she did on Ellen where she talks about her stuttering.

  6. Anuj, Emily Blunt actually still stutters some of the time. Although she used to stutter more frequently, her stuttering is now limited to a few situations. In addition, like many people who stutter, her stuttering still catches her by surprise some of the time too.
