Last night’s 3rd Annual AIS Benefit gala exceeded all expectations! The honorees, the client speeches, the auction, the food, and the music were all amazing. We are reminded this time every year that many people out there truly believe in our cause and want to do something about it.

Only hours after the gala ended, photos from the red carpet popped up on the Internet. While we catch our breath and gather all the good news from last night, check out these sites:

Getting to Know AIS Honoree Joe Moglia

By Carl, 10:55 am

We are tremendously excited to honor Joe Moglia tonight at our third annual Freeing Voices, Changing Lives Benefit Gala. We are so grateful for his commitment to support our cause. For those of you who won’t be in attendance, here is his bio from the Gala Program.

In the business world, both at TD AMERITRADE
and at Merrill Lynch, Joe Moglia has led, motivated,
united, excited, organized, evaluated, sold, recruited, been the key decision maker, strategized, developed and executed world-class plans in an extraordinary way for almost two decades on a national and global scale. In seven years as CEO at TD AMERITRADE, share-holders enjoyed a 600% return despite the worst economic crises since the Great Depression. The Firm’s market cap grew from $700 million to $10 billion, client assets from $24 billion to $280 billion, led the industry in consolidation, and became the global leader in equity transactions.

He was a better business leader because of his experience as a football coach. Over 16 years, he won two Ivy championships at Dartmouth, set school and national records at Lafayette, turned two high school programs around, wrote a book and numerous articles in national coaching journals, and has been or will be inducted into two halls of fame.

In 2005, Moglia was honored by the National Italian American Foundation for his business leadership accomplishments. He was again honored by the Columbus Citizens Foundation in 2006 for his life–time of professional achievements and in 2008 he was nominated for the US Medal of Honor. Moglia is the author of “Coach Yourself to Success: Winning the Investment Game” and is proud of the fact that he is the only published author of books both on sports and investing. Problems with stuttering have never interfered with his goals and he has always been at the top of his game, whether on the trading floor or on the playing field. It’s apparent that Moglia’s game plan has always produced a winning streak.

The Gala is in 3 days! Plus, getting to know Emily Blunt better.

By Eric, 10:41 am

If you were a fly on a wall here at AIS, the word you might hear the most these days is gala (with honorificabilitudinitatibus coming in at a close second, oddly enough). Yes, our 3rd Annual Benefit Gala is this Monday, June 8 at Tribeca Rooftop!

We are very excited about the event, which will honor TD Ameritrade Chairman Joe Moglia and popular British actress Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada, Dan in Real Life, Sunshine Cleaning) as recipients of the Freeing Voices, Changing Lives award for working through their stuttering to achieve their dreams.

The night will be hosted by beloved actor Sam Waterston (Law and Order). Special guests include Barbara Walters, Byron Pitts, and Marc Bouwer. The night will also feature a special performance by the Mojo Myles Band, fronted by 13-year-old musical prodigy and stutterer Myles Mancuso.

In addition to Sam, Joe, and Emily, the crowd will enjoy speeches from several of our clients. As Jodriann expressed, giving a speech in front of a large audience is no small feat for someone who stutters. We applaud our clients and thank them for making the night so special.

The gala is co-chaired by Susan Glessner and Deutshce Bank Americas CEO Seth H. Waugh.

To get to know Emily Blunt a little better, here’s an interview she did on Ellen where she talks about her stuttering.

The May program clients go to Macy’s

By Eric, 4:08 pm

So, a lot was said the other week building up to the group’s trip to Macy’s last Wednesday. And then the group delivered their speeches during Family and Friends Day on Thursday. And then Friday was the last day and the goodbyes that go along with it. And then Memorial Day weekend.

All that to say that we’ve compiled some great video to (edit and) share. To start off, here’s a longish, but worthwhile account of their subway and Macy’s adventures. [embedded video]
